i wanted to replicate the patterns of the galaxy but in a more abstract way. I wanted the colours to be more subdued and sutle so i used diluted ink as my meduim instead of paint. I added oil to the water and ink as i didnt want the ink and water to mix together in thier entirety, and i think this ended up working well as the colours merge well together but still reman seperate.

To add interest i added crushed black pepper to the ink as it dried, and im quite happy with the result as it creates quite a beautful texture. I also splashed iridescent paint at different points throughout painting becuase i wanted to repliacte the forming of new galaxies.

Experiments

I wanted to try a series of experiments to see the results of mixing oil with water and ink. I decided to add oil, as i was adding more then two colours in one experiment and i did not want the colours to become totally mixed in with eachother.
These are quite reminiscent of the patterns of the galaxy and i want to create a full size version of this.

I think the results where quite positive and i like the fact that the colours show some gradation instead of being one monotonous colour. I think the thing that works the best about this method is that becuase of the use of the oil, some bits of the white paper is still visble and quite alot of texture is created.
